Morning Drop Off and Parent Pick Up Process
After much consideration and discussion we have determined that we would like to change how we do student drop off and also parent pick up. We believe that this will be much more convenient for parents as they will not have to get out of their vehicles and then also out in the elements. We feel that this increases the safety of our students, staff, and patrons. This process will begin on October 12th in the morning with drop off and pick up after school for that day.
Morning Drop Off:
Parents dropping students off in the morning will be able to pull up in front of the school and stop before the crosswalk to drop off students. We do ask that students exit the car on the school side of the street for safety reasons. There will be staff stationed at these areas to help students carry any heavy objects into the building if needed. If a situation arises where a parent or guardian must come into the building, you will be able to park across the street, enter the main building and check in as normal.
Afternoon Pick Up:
The first parents in line will be asked to pull up to the coned off area in front of the elementary, the remaining cars will be asked to park along the right side of 1st street. Elementary Parent pick up students will be taken to the “Old Gym” at 3:25 and High School students at 3:30. These students will be placed in family units in order to speed up the process of pick up. Staff will be stationed on 1st street, outside of the old gym, and inside with the students. Staff will ensure we are getting students prepared to leave that have parents/guardians waiting outside. We ask that the cars picking up students, load all students on the school side of the street and please do not leave until the crossing guard has removed the stop sign. The next wave of cars will then be motioned to pull up in front of the school and the process will start again.
Procedures:
We ask that if you have a change to your students pick up, that you notify the office no later than 2:30pm. This allows us time to make changes to documents that let our staff and students know how they are getting home and eliminates any confusion that we may have.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact the elementary office at 417-394-2301.
Sincerely,
Kirk Bromley
Elementary Principal
