After a solid 34-6 Homecoming victory over the Bulldogs of Liberal, Coach McFarland and crew travel to Greenfield to battle the 1-3 Wildcats. The Eagles, who improved to 3-2 with the win Friday, currently stand 4th in the district standings. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm in Greenfield.
The Lady Eagle spikers halted a brief 2-game losing streak in exciting fashion, downing the visiting Indians of Osceola in 5 sets Thursday at Tabler Gymnasium. With the win Coach Vinson's squad improves to 17-8-2. After falling in the first set, the orange and black clicked on all cylinders for the second and third sets. After stumbling in a lackluster fourth set, the ladies rose to the challenge and finished off the match, improving to 2-2 in the WEMO. Up next for the Lady Eagles are visits from Thomas Jefferson on Monday and conference-foe Drexel on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles traveled to Lockwood Tuesday for a non-conference battle with the tradition rich Lady Tigers. Coach Vinson's squad came away with a clean sweep winning both tough matches in exciting fashion. The JV was victorious 25-23, 23-25, 25-21 while the varsity, improving to 8-1 with the win, dispatched the hosts in 4 sets, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 25-13. Up next is the WEMO tournament at Archie this Saturday.
The Eagles football squad, fighting back from as many as 16 points down, fell to the Tigers of Lockwood in overtime 54-48 Thursday night. The Eagles will welcome the Appleton City Bulldogs this Friday.
The Lady Eagles volleyball team kept the early season momentum rolling dispatching McAuley in straight sets Thursday night and then placing second in their own tournament on Saturday. After dominating throughout the day, Jasper ran into a tough Golden City team in the championship and fell after a hard-fought match. They will be back in action Tuesday as they visit Lockwood.
The Lady Eagles volleyball team will embark on their first road trip of the year as the visit the Lady Warriors of McAuley on Thursday night. The orange and black started off the campaign with an exciting 5-set battle with Golden City, downing the visitors 20-25, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12.
After an emphatic Week 1 beatdown of Decatur to the tune of 72-12, the Eagles pack up and head east to battle familiar foe Lockwood on Thursday night. The Tigers, who fell to Pierce City in their opener, are competing in 8-man for the first time. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
The Jasper R-V school district is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Eric Findley as their new superintendent. Dr. Eric Findley received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1992. According to Dr. Findley, he began his career in education so he could coach and he stayed in this field so he could help kids. “I love working with kids of all ages,” he said. After teaching elementary physical education and coaching several sports, Dr. Findley earned his Master of Education in Administration from William Woods University in 2002. After a short stint in the private sector as a business owner, he started back into education as a high school health teacher, baseball and basketball coach, HS/MS guidance counselor, assistant principal and then high school principal at Cole R-V School in Eugene. He then spent five years solely as the MS Principal at Warsaw before becoming the Transition Coordinator at Camdenton School district. After spending two years in that role, he started his superintendency at High Point R-III. “I am excited about the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of the Jasper R-V School district. I have witnessed many successes in the Jasper district and I am looking forward to working with the staff to continue those previous accomplishments. My goal is to continue building a winning atmosphere, both in and out of the classroom. I know that together we will build one family and one community,” said Dr. Findley. Dr. Findley received his Specialist Degree in the Superintendency from Lincoln University in 2011 and his Doctorate in Teaching and Learning from Missouri Baptist University in 2013. He has been married to his wife, Jill, for 30 years. They have two children Tyler (19) and Levi (17). In his spare time he loves to spend time outdoors hunting or walking in the woods or in his shop working on classic cars. “Family time is important to me,” said Dr. Findley. “I feel like we are close and I will drop everything to spend time with family. We play music together on Sunday mornings at church, we hunt together and we travel together.” He replaces Christina Hess who will be assuming the superintendent’s position at Steelville, Missouri.
