What is A+?

The A+ Program was established in 1993 as part of the Outstanding Schools Act by the Missouri
State Legislature to enhance education opportunities for high school students.

Jasper High School applied for A+ designation in the spring of 2011. The Class of 2013 will be
the first eligible class to have the opportunity to qualify for FREE COLLEGE TUITION
pending the continuation of program support from the state legislature

A+ focus is to keep all students in school.
A+ will help students focus on their goals, school, and post-secondary training opportunities to
reach their career goals.
A+ challenges Jasper High School to provide a comprehensive and rigorous educational program
where all students will benefit.

Individual Student
Responsibilities Include:

• Participants must have attended an A+ designated school for three years
• Have an accumulated GPA of 2.50 or better upon graduation
• Have a high school cumulative attendance record of 95% upon graduation.
• Perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring
• Maintain a good citizenship record in the school and community and avoid the unlawful use
of drugs and alcohol.
• Enroll in and attend school on a full time basis
• Attempt to secure all available financial assistance funds that do not require repayment

Jasper High School Graduates who meet the specific A+ criteria will be eligible to receive
reimbursement for tuition and general fees to attend any of Missouri's public community
colleges or public vocational or technical schools for two years.

Incentives will be available after the student has made a good faith effort to first secure all
available federal, post-secondary student financial assistance funds that do not require
repayment.

Parents must complete and send in the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form.
Parental income is NOT criteria for an A+ student incentive reimbursement.

Students may receive this incentive for a maximum of four semesters and must be enrolled as a
full time student and maintain a GPA of 2.50 or better on a 4.0 scale at the institution. Students
are eligible to use this incentive for up to four years.
